sustainers program

The Ghost Light Society is for those who prefer to linger behind the scenes, sustaining the revival with monthly contributions. Like a theater’s lone light that never goes dark, these supporters may stay out of the spotlight — but they are ever-present and essential. Join the quiet force keeping the spirit of the Texas Theater alive, one month at a time.

what is a ghost light?

A ghost light is a single bare bulb left glowing on stage when the theater is dark and empty. Some say it’s for safety — to keep footsteps steady in the shadows. Others say it keeps the spirits company, or wards off mischief from the ghosts said to haunt old theaters. Either way, it’s a quiet tradition that says: someone still cares for this place. And the show will go on.

Ghost Light Society Perk Concepts

Exclusive access to candlelit or flashlight-only tours once restoration progresses — includes theater lore and rumored hauntings.

  3. Secret Society Email or Zine
A beautifully written quarterly email or printed sheet titled The Whisper or Ghost Notes — full of behind-the-scenes updates, obscure theater facts, maybe a ghost story or two.

  4. Advance Notice of Late-Night or Mystery Events
Only Ghost Light Society members get early access to “ghost screenings,” midnight movies, or pop-up happenings.

  5. Phantom Passphrase Access
Fun little touches like secret phrases that unlock bonus perks at events (e.g., “Say ‘Lady in Red’ at concessions to get a hidden treat”).
